Nuclear Engineering Significance

Alloying element in Zircaloy cladding (Zircaloy-2: 1.5% Sn, Zircaloy-4: 1.5% Sn) where it improves mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. Thermal absorption (σ_a = 0.63 b) is low. Tin fission products are present in the mass ~119-126 range.
