Alloying element in advanced zirconium alloys (Zr-2.5Nb used in CANDU pressure tubes, E110 cladding) and niobium-based superalloys. Thermal absorption (σ_a = 1.15 b) is low. Nb-1Zr alloy is used in some space reactor designs.
