Ac

Actinium

Z = 89 · Actinide · 227.0 u

Nuclear Engineering Significance

Ac-227 (t₁/₂ = 21.8 y) is produced in the thorium fuel cycle via Pa-231 decay. It is a significant contributor to the long-term radiotoxicity of thorium cycle spent fuel. Not used as a reactor material but must be tracked in thorium fuel cycle analyses.
